Constant damp created a strong, stuffy musty odor that spread across the entire room. The original wall‑to‑wall wall carpet trapped all moisture deep inside the fibers. Instead of drying out, the carpet held water day and night, feeding ongoing mold growth. Old wooden baseboards along the walls rotted, warped and deteriorated from years‑long water exposure. Homeowners could not use this basement space for storage, recreation or daily living, as mold brought potential health risks and terrible air quality.

To solve the root moisture problem rather than simply cleaning off surface mold, we designed a targeted waterproof remodeling plan for this property. First, our team completely tore out all rotten wooden base trim around every basement wall. We removed mold‑infested drywall at the wall‑bottom section, then installed durable cement‑based boards. Cement boards are completely water‑resistant and mold‑proof materials, which block ground‑level dampness from climbing upward onto wall surfaces, preventing future mold outbreaks.

For the flooring upgrade, we fully ripped out the moisture‑trapped old carpet. After leveling the basement concrete sub‑floor, we laid brand‑new 2‑foot‑by‑4‑foot large‑format porcelain tiles across the whole‑basement floor. Hard tile flooring will never absorb underground foundation moisture. 地面方面，全部拆除极易存潮的旧地毯，找平原始水泥地基之后，全屋通铺2英尺×4英尺的大规格地砖。硬质地砖不会吸收地下潮气，耐霉防水，非常适合新泽西容易返潮的地下室环境。
改造完工之后，原有黑霉全部清除，难闻霉味彻底消散。水泥防水墙基加大地砖地面，保障地下室常年干燥。原本阴暗破败、无法使用的地下室，改造后变成干净安全、可以正常使用的空间，业主不必再担心返潮、发霉、墙体腐烂等问题。
